Lael and Dave's kitchen window. The intent for this window
was to block out the street view.

About Us
Glass Expressions has been in business since 1974. It was
originally called Stained Glass Art and Supply. In 1980 Kathy
Johnson made the choice to sell her horse so that she could buy the
store. The original owner was going to close it and she would
have nowhere to do her glass! She renamed it Glass
Expressions. In 1988 Ray Crudo went into partnership with Kathy
and they moved the store two blocks east to a much larger
storefront. The shop florished in it's new location.
A few years later Ray was wanting to retire. Kathy
jokingly told some of her current students that she was going to need a
new partner. One of these students was Lael Smidt. The seed
was planted and Lael did not rest until she was in place as Kathy's new
partner, quitting work at Boeing in the process. Lael and
her 'significant other' Dave originally took the beginning stained
glass class from Kathy in 1991 and Lael hasn't stopped doing glass
since.
Kathy began experimenting with beadmaking in 1991. By
1992 she was teaching classes and stocking supplies for eager new
beadmakers. She now has a second full time career selling her
horse head beads in bead shows across the country.
